Candles by Victoria review of the day - Breakfast in Vermont

Breakfast in Vermont

I have this scent in an 8 oz jar, and I got it after seeing a video where Tina (from the message board) said it was very similar to fudge brownie, but better. Well, that was all I had to hear.  I love fudge brownie, so if this was better than that, it had to be mine!  And she was absolutely right.  You still get the yummy, rich chocolate scent that you get in fudge brownie, but also a bakery note, maybe a little bit of a crusty scent.  I think the description for this one says you can smell the flour, and you really can.  It's like the best chocolate pastry baking in your oven.  I found the throw from my 8oz jar wasn't strong enough to scent my whole upstairs, so I ended up scooping out some wax to melt in my tart burner, and voila, upstairs was scented!  This would be really good as scoop some scent I think.  Hmmm...off to plot my next order...

Candles by Victoria review of the day-Pecan Pie

Pecan Pie

This one is soooo good!  Sometimes pecan pie scents can smell very mapley to my nose, but this one smells just like warm pecan pie (I always warm mine up, yum!) There is a light crust scent as well.  Not too buttery, not too brown sugary, with a true pecan scent.  Delicious!

Candles By Victoria review of the day - Lovespell

 Lovespell

This is another scent I've had for ages but never melted.  I bought it hoping it would be a dupe for a  perfume from Victoria's Secret that I love, but I don't know the name of (and I don't think they make it anymore).  And while it is a dupe for one of their perfumes, it wasn't the one I was looking for.  Still, it's a very pretty fruity floral.  What kinds of fruits and florals, I'm not sure, as I'm terrible at identifying those notes.  It's a gorgeous dark purple color, and it's super strong, I could smell it in my whole bedroom just by taking the cover off the scent shot!  And because of that, I was a little hesitant to melt it, it seemed like it would be way too strong for my floral-hating nose. So, I warmed up my dish on my melter, and just rubbed the scent shot around to melt just the tiniest little bit, and that little bit scented my whole upstairs!  It was a very pretty, girly scent, nice for the bedroom.  I think I would prefer this in candle form, but it's definitely a beautiful scent.  I'm also getting this soap from cbv bath and body soon :)

Yay! Finally I get to order some soaps!

I'm so excited to be placing my first CBV Bath and Body order!  Melissa is just now shipping to Canada, so I'm just waiting on my invoice to finalize my order.  I'm getting all bar soaps.  While I am interested in trying her whipped soaps, 2 of the soaps I'm ordering have whipped soap on top, so I'll try that first.  I'm going to be getting

Bella Swan
Pink Cupcake x 2 (my favorite cbv scent)
Lovespell
Sexy in Stilettos (new scent to me)
Tiffany D (new to me as well)

I'll be doing a review with pics as soon as I get this order, as well as my huge candle order, which should be here by the end of the week.

Candles by Victoria review of the day - Brown Sugar Shortbread

Brown Sugar Shortbread

This scent is a mixture of Granny's Pie Crust and Brown Sugar.  I find this to be a sweeter version of Granny's Pie Crust, which is a slightly salty, sweet pie crust smell, similar to a graham cracker crust.  The throw on this is a bit light, and I was finding it a little too sweet for my liking, so I threw in a piece of Snicker doodle, which is a little strong on its own.  Together, yum!  It was a sweet sugary cinnamon cookie.  I had to run out for a bit after melting this, and the receptionist at the vets office commented on how good I smelled!  I think this would be a good scent to use as a mixer to tone down some of the stronger, spicier bakery scents.

Candles By Victoria Review of the Day - Bella Swan

Bella Swan

I ordered this scent after reading so many raves about it on the pouring pot message board.  Its a little out of my comfort zone, as I typically do not like florals.  I melted about 1/16 of my scent shot (I was sure I wouldn't like it) but OMG, it was amazing!!!  Its a sweet floral with a slight grape scent.  Like I said, I don't like florals, so I have no idea what the floral scents actually are.  It is such a pretty scent, its makes me think of a perfume a very girly girl would wear.  And let me tell you, that 1/16 of a scent shot scented my entire upstairs, and I could still smell it the next day!  This is an original scent created by Victoria and her daughter Chelsea.  I will definitely be getting this in a full sized candle, and it just goes to show how things can smell really different when you warm them.  It makes me want to branch out a little and try some others that I've stayed away from.  This is definitely one to try!!

Candles by Victoria Review of the Day - Brandied Custard

Brandied Custard

The scent shot that I have in brandied custard has a LOT of oil in it, like you could pour the oil out if you wanted to.  Which I love, because it's more of the delicious CBV scent to enjoy!  However, I think that all the oil made this a lot heavier on the brandy than its supposed to be.  It's still good, just really boozy smelling lol!  You get the brandy first, but you also get the creamy custard mixed in.  The two mix really well together.  It's kind of how I imagine a creme brûlée with brandy on top, instead of caramelized sugar, to smell.  I think this would be really good in candle form.

Candles by Victoria Review of the day - Cream Cheese Frosting and CAS Butterscotch Brownies

I've had Cream Cheese Frosting since my very first CBV order and never melted it.  I dont know if Ive ever even seen a review of it.  I got it with the intention of mixing it with Buttery Gingerbread, but that one was too good on its own, so Cream Cheese Frosting kind of was forgotten.  So needless to say, this has had sufficient cure time!  On cold sniff, it smells like a not so cream cheesy, cream cheese frosting, with a nutty smell mixed in.  When it was melting, I was instantly back at my moms house when I was a teenager (that was not yesterday) when she was making icing for her butterscotch brownies.  Oddly, it's not a cream cheese based icing, but she always put chopped up walnuts on top, and that's exactly what this scent shot smells like!  So I decided to throw in a 1/4 of caramelized pralines, and OMG, it's the brownies my mom made!  It smells *exactly* like them!  Caramelized Pralines is a little too buttery caramely for my liking, but mixed, these two are awesome!  I see a full sized CAS in my future :)

Candles by Victoria Review of the day - Rice Crispy treats

Rice Crispy Treats

I ordered this scent in my Christmas order, so it's had close to 3 months to cure.  I think this one definately needs cure time, it didn't smell like much at all when I got it.  Now, on cold sniff, this smells sort of perfumey, with the predominant scent being the powder that covers marshmallows in the bag.  I also get a hint of the powder from the rice crispies, it's not so much the crisps, just the powder from the bottom of the bag.

Warm, the perfumey note is not nearly as strong.  The predominant scent is still the powder from the marshmallows, with the rice crispy scent being stronger, but still in the background.  There is no buttery scent, at least not to my nose.

While I don't think this smells exactly like a rice crispy treat, it's still a very nice powdery scent.  I wouldn't consider this to be a strong bakery scent because of the perfume note, but if you like marshmallows, you'll love this one!

Candles by Victoria Review of the day - Snickerdoodle

I've been ordering from Candles by Victoria for almost 2 years now, and I've accumulated a lot of scent shots, as I always get a bunch of new ones in each order.  So after going through my stash the other day, I realized that I have a lot of scents that I have never melted (shame on me!). So I've decided that every day, I will melt and review a scent that I've never tried before.

Snickerdoodle

On cold sniff, this smelled just like Cookies for Santa, which is a cinnamon sugar cookie type of smell.  Once it was melted, the cinnamon became much stronger (which I love) and instead of a cookie scent, it's more of a bready smell, like cinnamon bread.  It's very nice.  It's not sweet at all.

Update-after burning 1/4 of a s shot for 2 hrs this is super strong!  I had to turn it off for a while, but it's sooo good if you love cinnamon!
